Is the Fiesta ST the Hottest Hatch?!

Article written by: Jonathan Wooley of S3 Magazine

As the editor of S3 Magazine, I’m super-fortunate to drive a lot of newer cars. And with that opportunity… comes all sorts of eye-opening surprises. A few years ago as I drove the line of Ford ST/RS models, I began to realize that these things felt more like imports… then most of the imports!

That’s for real.

Take the Fiesta ST for example: This car is a time-warp back to the simplistic energy of 90s import car culture. A TRUE hot-hatch. A tire-spinning, torque-steering, wound-tight little Tasmanian Devil.

…Devil who LOVES mods.

I also have an old swapped CRX, and an older 911. And even with those cars as a comparison, I can vouch that the driving experience in the Fiesta ST is as pure as it gets. The only place where Ford seems to have screwed up is the oddball 4×100 bolt pattern for the wheels.

So I called Scott at Konig, and explained the frustrating lack of wheel variety & quality for the FiST (Fiesta ST) subculture… and that’s where the flow-formed Konig Hypergram in 4×108 was born! We nailed down a good fitment for the FiST chassis: 17×8 +40. And a couple months later, the wheels were finished & hitting the scales at just 17lbs.

5.5-pounds lighter than the OEM wheel, AND an inch wider. That’s what sport-compact tuning is all about!

DO YOU AGREE? Is this Fiesta ST one of the hottest hatches our right now? IF NOT, what do you think is the hottest hatch? COMMENT BELOW!
