Unlock Ultimate Performance: Konig Meets Eibach and Koni at SEMA

At this year’s SEMA show, Konig Wheels teamed up with the experts from Eibach Suspension and Koni Shock Absorbers to delve into the thrilling world of suspension tuning—a realm where performance meets artistry, and every tweak brings you closer to the ultimate driving experience.

Redefine Your Drive

Imagine a ride where you feel every nuance of the road, where your car responds to your slightest touch, and where safety and excitement coexist in perfect harmony. That’s the promise of a well-tuned suspension. Alan from Koni and Mark from Eibach unpack the incredible benefits of modifying your suspension. From increased control and contact with the road to the sheer joy of a ride that feels tailor-made for you—it’s all within reach.

Choose Your Path: Springs vs. Coilovers

Suspension modification isn’t a one-size-fits-all journey. Are you after that aggressive stance and improved ride quality? Lowering springs might be your answer. Looking for maximum adjustability and performance on both street and track? Coilovers could be your perfect match. In our video, we delve into the specifics, helping you make an informed decision that aligns with your driving style and goals.

Unlock the Secrets of Adjustability

Adjusting your dampers can be a game-changer—but only if you know how to do it right. If you’ve ever turned those knobs and wondered why nothing feels different, Alan and Mark have the insights you need. They explain why bigger adjustments can lead to more noticeable changes and how to find that ideal setting that offers the best balance between comfort and performance. It’s about making your suspension work for you, not against you.

The Art of the Drop

We all love the look of a lowered car—there’s something undeniably captivating about that sleek profile hugging the pavement. But how low is too low? Our experts tackle this question head-on, providing practical advice on achieving the perfect drop without sacrificing safety or functionality. Learn how to avoid issues like rubbing and scraping, and understand why allowing your suspension to move is crucial for optimal performance.

An Unforgettable Beginning

At just eight years old, Robert Thorne ignited his passion for motorsports. His godfather’s purchase of the Okra Valley Raceway Park became the catalyst for a journey that would redefine racing excellence. Young Robert embraced go-karting, laying the foundation for a future that few could imagine.

Rising Through the Ranks

By 14, Robert’s ambition soared. Determined to transition into formula cars, he convinced his father to enter him into a global contest for a Formula BMW sponsorship. Competing against 100 of the world’s best young drivers in Spain, Robert emerged victorious. This triumph catapulted him into the world of professional racing back in the United States.

A Versatile Racing Maestro

Over the next 15 years, Robert became a force in various motorsports arenas. From touring cars to endurance races, his versatility knew no bounds. At 17, he competed in the grueling Daytona 24 Hours. Racing for illustrious brands like Audi, McLaren, and Volvo, his name became synonymous with speed, skill, and sheer determination.

Embracing the Drift

When the world paused during the COVID-19 pandemic, Robert found a new challenge—drifting. In Edmond, Oklahoma, where drifting thrived despite global setbacks, he met Josh Love. Rookie Triumphs

Robert’s entry into Formula Drift was nothing short of spectacular. In his rookie year, he clinched the Pro-Am Championship. Not stopping there, he dominated the Pro Spec series, becoming the 2022 Pro Spec Champion. His meteoric rise turned heads and set a new standard for newcomers in the sport.

Engineering Excellence with “Pablo”

The quest for perfection led to the creation of his new car, affectionately named “Pablo.” This machine isn’t just a car; it’s a masterpiece of engineering. “It’s so badass—it’ll do anything you want at any time,” Robert boasts. Konig Ultragrams: A Solution to the Tire Shortage Crisis

Intro

In the realm of motorsport, unexpected challenges can often arise. One such hurdle was faced by racers participating in the Lucky Dog Racing League earlier this year. The shortage of Hankook Ventus R-S4 tires, a mandatory spec tire for the league, caused significant disruption for many teams. However, a solution emerged, thanks to the versatility and performance of Konig Ultragram wheels.

The Tire Shortage Crisis

The Hankook factory fire, which delayed the shipment of certain R-S4 sizes to the United States, created a dilemma for racers who had built their cars around specific tire dimensions. For teams that had invested in 15×10-inch wheels and 245/40R15 tires, finding suitable alternatives was a pressing concern.

Konig Ultragrams to the Rescue

In the face of this crisis, Konig Ultragram wheels proved to be a valuable solution. These flow-formed wheels, known for their low weight, reasonable cost, and excellent brake clearance, offered a viable alternative to the unavailable tires.

Konig Ultragram 15×9 et35 Titanium Metallic

The Benefits of Konig Ultragrams

  • Versatility: The Konig Ultragrams could accommodate narrower tires, such as the 225/45R15, making them a suitable option for teams that needed to adjust their wheel and tire setup.
  • Performance: Despite the change in tire size, the Konig Ultragrams maintained their performance characteristics. Their low weight contributed to improved handling and acceleration, while their excellent brake clearance ensured ample stopping power.
  • Cost-Effective: The Ultragrams offered a cost-effective solution, especially considering the potential financial implications of the tire shortage.

A Case Study: The LFX-Swapped Miata

A perfect example of how Konig Ultragrams helped a team overcome the tire shortage is the LFX-swapped Miata. By downsizing to 15×9-inch Ultragrams, the team was able to successfully install the 225/45R15 tires and prepare their car for the next race. This case study demonstrates the adaptability and effectiveness of these wheels in challenging circumstances.

Conclusion

The tire shortage crisis highlighted the importance of having versatile and reliable equipment in the world of motorsport. Konig Ultragram wheels proved to be a valuable asset for teams that faced this challenge. Their performance, versatility, and cost-effectiveness make them a strong choice for racers seeking to optimize their setups and overcome unexpected obstacles. Konig Neoform | Flow Formed

The Konig Neoform is a 5-spoke flow formed wheel with motorsports inspired origins. Flow forming technology is a manufacturing process that results in a lighter weight and more durable wheel. Available in 17, 18, and 19 inch diameter. Widths range from 8-10.5. Although there is no 4-lug pattern option, the Neoform is available in 5 different 5-lug bolt patterns including: 5×100, 5×108, 5×112, 5×114.3, and 5×120. The Neoform is available in A & B profiles. The A profile is a more straight face with more brake caliper clearance. The B profile is more concave with a more aggressive look. B profile is only available in the wider widths.

The Neoform is currently only offered in a Matte Grey finish. We get asked, why only one color? When creating a new wheel we receive many samples in different finishes. The Matte Grey on the Neoform was no compromise, the grey highlights the details in each spoke and allows the lines to look the sharpest. Other finishes on this particular wheel would wash away some of the more flattering details.
